I mean this is all semantics but say someone was born in 1965 they’d have kids when they were about 20 (‘85) those kids would be 27 now, not exactly new grads. And that’s the first year AFTER the boomer generation. The majority of people still had/have kids…
The boomers were known for having kids a lot older than 20.

I agree. My parents were born ‘59, and I’m graduating in May at 21 years old. My parents (GEDs, no school past 6th grade) are not helicopters but my sister (super educated 32 year-old) sometimes tries to be helicoptery because she has the means.

Yup. Doesn’t bode well though for our three-adult over-educated family, does it? We’ll have five post-grad degrees between us by the time the Beans start school. I best begin writing apology notes to teachers and coaches now.

My parents were born in 1959, and both finished their masters before they got married. Then they waited until they were 30 to have kids. And they are insane helicopter parents, my mom especially.

my parents had bad advice about biology (yay catholics) and so had my older brother during law school, but waited to have the rest of us. And my mom was a total helicopter parent - when she had time. I would beg her not to talk to my teachers.

Dad was 1950, mom 1954. They never really helicopter parents but they were on top of shit like my sister’s issues and my ADHD. They paid attention without taking away freedom.

I dislike “Boomers,” or any generational label. My mom was born in ‘46, and I have 18-22 year old students with parents born in ‘64. Mama would never dream of pulling that nonsense, but obviously kids my students’ age have parents who do.
